Purity Balls

I'm watching a documentary on TLC on Purity Balls.
The whole idea behind a purity ball is so a girl can pledge to stay pure until marriage. No kissing, no sex, and in some cases, no holding hands or hugging.
Their main point behind all of this is for a girl to have a strong relationship with her father because if she has a strong bond with him, she wont need to go and find another man to fill a void.
